YOGA TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMME IN SINGAPORE

Discover, Immerse, Lead with Yoga Lab School

Why Train with Yoga Lab?

While there are many yoga teacher training courses out there, we pride ourselves on providing the most applicable and comprehensive training in Singapore. Yoga Lab is the first boutique studio in Singapore to introduce quality classes for intermediate and advanced yoga students, and our classes are much sought after by yoga teachers. Yoga Lab is known for delivering excellent yoga classes. This is only possible with our world-class training and mentoring of our teaching team to deliver only the best. At the heart of our teaching philosophy is the belief that yoga education is about empowering our students and encouraging their exploration within a safe, supportive and inspiring environment.

When it came to creating our version of the yoga training, we zoomed in on making yoga functional.  Through our 200-hour yoga instructor course, you will be taught the traditional science of yoga and how it applies to our modern life functionally. From philosophy to anatomy, we have given it thorough thought to make every part of the training relevant. You will also learn from the best instructors to graduate fully equipped and lead strong and intelligent classes while creating amazing, and unforgettable experiences for your clients. We are also the only training school in Singapore to provide mentorship by Lab senior teachers for selected candidates post-training, who will give you insights into the business of yoga during training.

It’s not just about what you teach, it’s about how you make people feel in your classes. Here at Yoga Lab, we believe in giving only the best experience to our students. We won’t just teach you the “what”, we’ll generously share with you the “how” and “why”, so that you can grow into the exceptional teacher we know you can be!

Maya

Lead Trainer of Yoga Lab

Maya is one of the most sought-after teachers in Singapore. With 10 years of teaching experience under her belt, Maya has seen the transformation of many students she journeyed with and off the mat.

Maya was from Indonesia and came to Singapore in 2008 and worked as an interior designer. In Singapore, she found hot yoga and fell in love with it. Her practice evolved to include more arm balances and inversion, and she soon found herself craving to share her love for yoga with more people. She left her full-time job in 2013 after pursuing her 200 hours Vinyasa Flow Teacher Training with Michel Besnard in Koh Samui.

Maya believes life is too short to wake up unhappy every day doing something you don’t like, and that everyone should wake up excited to go to work doing something they love! She started her full-time yoga career right after her yoga teacher training and found her life calling in teaching yoga. She became Lead Instructor at Yoga Lab School in 2020 and has concluded 2 rounds of oversubscribed yoga training since.

Furthermore, she believes in making yoga accessible and functional. Maya has taken training classes in Movement Basic Anatomy and Prehab Training. She also holds a Functional Range Conditioning Certification. Her knowledge of functional anatomy is key to the Yoga Lab School’s method of teaching asana and sequencing.

Hear from our graduates.

What did you like most about the training?
The sense of community, of shared values and genuine care and compassion amongst all the participants and the yoga mentors and teachers.

What did you gain out of the training?
The discipline, the satisfaction of learning, the confidence in gaining knowledge of techniques and the valuable wisdom that only actual practice and experience of the teachers can provide during the course. The joy of experiencing mindfulness and fully understanding meditation in motion.

Who will you recommend this training to?
Would highly recommend to all seeking a new level of growth in all areas of their yoga practice, regardless of one’s tentative intention to teach. There is no substitute to the elevated perspective you gain after YTT. Practice after YTT becomes more meaningful and purposeful because of the renewed mindset a practitioner would gain.

Pinky David Training Period: Feb to Apr 2022

What did you like most about the training?
Asana clinic. I Ioved that I learned about the most basic asanas (and realised that I have been doing some of the basic asanas wrongly) and it really changed my entire practice altogether. Before YTT, I just did the asanas because they made me feel good but I didnt notice which muscles I should be engaging. After the asana clinic, I became more aware and focused on my own body and it really made me appreciate and understand my own body more. Yay!

What did you gain out of the training?
More toned body 😂 and greater awareness. But it is not only physical but the mental is crazy!! During YTT, I learned alot about myself through the journallings and self reflections. It taught me how to let go and it was easier to be vulnerable in front of classmates who were all in the same journey. I never expected myself to meditate too but I did it! Iverall it was really a fulfilling journey for the mind.

Who will you recommend this training to?
Everyone!! If you are thinking of joining but having doubts, just do it! There will never be a perfect time.

Adelina Training Period: Jul to Sept 2022

What did you like most about the training?
I liked the routine and that I had to set aside the weekend for myself. I also really liked how I got to learn about yoga in practice and not just the physical poses.

What did you gain out of the training?
Definitely friends hahaha I think the thing I gained the most from my YTT is confidence. I used to feel so self conscious like I have to make sure I don’t make any mistakes and don’t mess up. But I feel like I'm no longer afraid to fail because it just means I’ve tried! 🙂

Who will you recommend this training to?
This YTT journey was a very personal one to me so I strongly recommend this training to anyone who wants to step out of their comfort zone or for individuals who are just looking for some time to commit to themselves.

Alexandria De Costa Training Period: Feb to April 2022

What did you like most about the training?
In the beginning, the training is divided into 2 sub categories. Basic Anatomy which is lead by Maya and Yoga Philosophy which is lead by Betty. Both trainers aced at it without a doubt. The chemistry between these two trainers is perfect. Though I must admit it's tough but I do enjoy the journey. What I like best is the preparation of our group com class. The commitment and dedication from our fellow mates is unparalleled.

What did you gain out of the training?
Better and clearer understanding. Most importantly, I make new friends and found a new community.

Who will you recommend this training to?
People who truly love yoga as well as people wants to improve one's practice
